Taipei, July 25 (NationPress) Taiwan's Ministry of National Defence (MND) has reported that 26 Chinese military aircraft, seven naval vessels, and one official ship were spotted operating in proximity to Taiwan early on Friday.
As per the ministry's statement, 24 out of 26 People's Liberation Army (PLA) aircraft breached the median line of the Taiwan Strait, entering Taiwan's northern and southwestern Air Defence Identification Zone (ADIZ). In light of these developments, Taiwan's armed forces closely monitored the situation and dispatched aircraft, naval vessels, and coastal-based systems.
In a message shared on X, Taiwan's MND indicated, "A total of 26 sorties of PLA aircraft, 7 PLAN vessels, and 1 official ship were detected around Taiwan by 6 a.m. (UTC+8) today. 24 out of 26 sorties crossed the median line, entering Taiwan's northern and southwestern ADIZ. We have been monitoring the situation and have responded accordingly."
This recent incursion follows similar activities recorded the day prior, where Taiwan's Defence Ministry noted 48 Chinese military aircraft, nine naval vessels, and one official ship in the vicinity by 6 a.m. (local time) on Thursday. Taiwan's armed forces were also vigilant and responded to these military maneuvers.
"A total of 48 PLA aircraft, 9 PLAN vessels, and 1 official ship were detected around Taiwan by 6 a.m. (UTC+8) today. 36 out of 48 sorties crossed the median line, entering Taiwan's northern, southwestern, and eastern ADIZ. Our forces have been monitoring the situation and responding appropriately," stated Taiwan's Ministry of National Defence on Thursday via X.
China continues to assert its claim over Taiwan as part of its territory under the One China principle, insisting on reunification with Beijing. However, Taiwan, officially known as the Republic of China (ROC), has governed independently since 1949.
The Taiwanese armed forces remain on high alert, tracking these incursions and taking action to protect the island's sovereignty while maintaining regional stability.
