Bangkok, July 27 (NationPress) On Sunday, Thailand reacted to US President Donald Trump's appeal for a ceasefire concerning the Thai-Cambodian border, asserting that the nation supports the concept of a ceasefire but seeks genuine commitment from Cambodia. In an early Sunday statement, the Thai Foreign Ministry disclosed that "Acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai had a discussion with President Trump, who urged for an immediate ceasefire agreement between Thailand and Cambodia."
Phumtham conveyed to Trump that "Thailand supports the idea of a ceasefire. Nevertheless, Thailand desires to see a genuine commitment from the Cambodian side," as stated in the release.
Phumtham requested Trump to communicate to Cambodia that "Thailand aims to initiate bilateral talks promptly to outline the measures and processes for the ceasefire and to achieve a peaceful resolution to the conflict," it further stated.
