Tragic Loss: Three Children Die Due to Severe Weather in Afghanistan

Faizabad, Nov 30 (NationPress) Severe snowfall and freezing temperatures have led to the tragic deaths of three children in Afghanistan's Badakhshan province, according to a local official's statement on Saturday.

The unfortunate event occurred in Nawabad village of the Raghistan district on Friday afternoon, where the three children, who were on their way to another village, succumbed to the harsh weather conditions and heavy snowfall, reported Hekmatullah Mohammadi, the Provincial Director for Information and Culture, as cited by the Xinhua news agency.

Additionally, the intense snowfall and cold weather have caused significant road blockages across several provinces, notably affecting the Salang Pass, which is a vital highway linking the national capital, Kabul, to nine northern provinces and extending to Central Asian countries.

Every year, Badakhshan province faces extreme cold and substantial snowfall, posing serious challenges for its inhabitants.
