Did Trump Truly Prevent the India-Pakistan War Without a Nobel Peace Prize?

Washington, June 21 (NationPress) – President Donald Trump of the United States has once again asserted that he played a crucial role in averting a military confrontation between the nuclear-capable nations of India and Pakistan. He expressed regret that his diplomatic efforts have not been recognized with a Nobel Peace Prize.

In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump took credit for preventing a potential conflict between New Delhi and Islamabad that followed the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22. This attack led to retaliatory strikes from India under the operation now revealed as Operation Sindoor.

Moreover, Trump highlighted a peace deal struck between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda, two nations with a turbulent history of violence. He referred to this agreement as a significant global achievement and lamented his lack of acknowledgment for his peacemaking endeavors.

“This is a Great Day for Africa and, quite frankly, a Great Day for the World!” Trump declared.

He went on to state, “I won’t receive a Nobel Peace Prize for this, nor for halting the war between India and Pakistan, or for the conflicts in Serbia and Kosovo. No matter what I do, including the Russia/Ukraine situation and Israel/Iran, the people know the truth, and that's what matters to me.”

Contrary to Trump's claims, Indian officials have consistently refuted any assertion of US intervention in easing tensions with Pakistan. India insists that the ceasefire was achieved through direct military negotiations between the two nations, without American involvement or that of any third party.

According to government sources, it was the Pakistani Director General of Military Operations who contacted his Indian counterpart on May 10, following Indian drone and missile strikes targeting various locations in Pakistan, including the significant Nur Khan airbase.

This was part of Operation Sindoor, India's response to the Pahalgam attack that claimed the lives of several Indian soldiers. After days of intense cross-border skirmishes, both parties agreed to a ceasefire on May 10.

In a recent call with Trump, Prime Minister Narendra Modi clarified that their discussion did not involve trade negotiations or peace mediation, opposing Trump's public statements.

Despite this, Trump remains resolute in his narrative. At a recent press conference, he remarked, “I stopped the war between Pakistan — I have great affection for Pakistan — and India. I believe Modi is a remarkable leader. We are working on a trade deal. I halted the conflict between the two nuclear nations.”

Additionally, he criticized the media for allegedly neglecting his role in the ceasefire.

“Did I get even one story published? I halted a war between two major nuclear powers, yet no coverage. But that is fine — the people are aware,” he stated.

Interestingly, Trump's claims have garnered some backing in Pakistan. Reports indicate the Pakistani government is preparing to formally nominate him for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of his “decisive diplomatic intervention and pivotal leadership during the recent India-Pakistan crisis.”

Further indicating improved relations, Trump recently hosted Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir for a private lunch at the White House, a meeting that has attracted attention in diplomatic circles, especially as India continues to minimize any American role in the regional conflict.
