Washington, March 31 (NationPress) US President Donald Trump has not ruled out the possibility of seeking a third term in the White House, despite the 22nd Amendment of the Constitution that forbids it. In a recent interview, he asserted that "there are methods" for this pursuit and stressed he was "not joking".

"Many individuals would like me to consider it. However, I often remind them that we have a significant journey ahead of us," Trump stated during a phone interview with NBC News published on Sunday, as reported by CNN.

"My focus remains on the present," he mentioned, alluding to his current administration.

"Numerous supporters want me to do this," Trump remarked, acknowledging backing from his allies.

When asked if there are strategies available for him to run for another presidency, the President replied, "There are methods to facilitate that," according to CNN.

The term-limited President has frequently hinted at a potential third presidency.

"I'm not joking," Trump reiterated to NBC News, while also stating, "It is far too early to contemplate it."

In late January during a rally in Nevada, Trump declared, "It would be the greatest honor of my life to serve, not just once, but twice, thrice, or even four times."

He later clarified, "No, it will be to serve twice. I will not rest for the next four years."

A few weeks later, Trump engaged with his supporters by asking, "Should I run again?" at a Black History Month event at the White House, prompting chants of "Four more years!"

One of the discussed options was for Vice-President J.D. Vance to run for President and later step aside to let Trump take over.

"That’s one option," Trump acknowledged.

"However, there are others as well," he added, but declined to provide further details, simply saying "no" when pressed for more information.

Altering the Constitution to permit a third term would necessitate significant political maneuvering, requiring a two-thirds majority in Congress or consensus from two-thirds of the states to convene a constitutional convention.

Any amendments would subsequently need ratification from three-quarters of the states.

While Trump has made similar remarks about a potential third presidential run before, many Republicans have dismissed them as mere jokes or provocations aimed at critics.

Nevertheless, Tennessee Republican Representative Andy Ogles has proposed a resolution to eliminate the current two-term limit, which could enable Trump to pursue another term in office.
