Is Trump Discontent with Putin? New Sanctions on Russia in the Works!

Washington, July 9 (NationPress) US President Donald Trump has announced the approval of additional weapon shipments to Ukraine and is contemplating new sanctions against Russia. "We are dispatching defensive weapons to Ukraine, and I have given my approval for that," Trump stated during a Cabinet meeting at the White House, as reported by Xinhua news agency.

Trump voiced his discontent with Russian President Vladimir Putin, saying, "I'm not pleased with Putin. I can tell you that much right now." He pointed out the tragic loss of life among both Russian and Ukrainian soldiers, which numbers in the thousands.

Furthermore, he mentioned he is weighing the possibility of supporting a bipartisan Senate bill that aims to implement extensive sanctions on Russia.

Earlier, on Monday, Trump revealed that the US would send more weapons to Ukraine, coming shortly after Moscow asserted new territorial victories.

He made these comments at the White House on Monday (US time), recognizing Ukraine's escalating difficulties on the battlefield amid intensified Russian offensives.

"We will need to send additional weapons—primarily defensive ones," Trump remarked to reporters, highlighting the scale of attacks Ukraine has faced.

"They are being hit very, very hard," he added, reiterating his dissatisfaction with President Putin.

Days prior, Trump's assurance followed a pause in certain arms shipments to Kyiv, a decision that took Ukrainian officials by surprise and led to urgent requests for clarification.

Recently, Trump expressed frustration over the ongoing situation in Ukraine, stating there has been no advancement in resolving the conflict after a phone call with Putin.

"We discussed many topics, including Iran, and we also talked about the war in Ukraine. I am not happy about that [situation]," Trump shared with reporters at Joint Base Andrews near Washington.

"I did not make any progress with him at all," he emphasized, referring to conflict resolution.

Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov noted that the phone call between Putin and Trump lasted nearly an hour.

"Naturally, the issues surrounding Ukraine were discussed. Donald Trump has once again raised the issue of ending the hostilities as soon as possible. In turn, Vladimir Putin noted that we still continued the search for a political, negotiated solution to the conflict," stated a release from the Russian President's office.

"Additionally, the President of Russia stated that Russia would strive to achieve its goals, namely the elimination of the well-known root causes that led to the current state of affairs, the bitter confrontation that we are seeing now. Russia will not back down from these goals," the statement concluded.

Ushakov also mentioned a detailed discussion regarding the situation in Iran and the overall state of the Middle East.
