Washington, April 17 (NationPress) US President Donald Trump reported having a “very productive conversation” with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, expressing hope regarding a ceasefire initiative involving Israel and Lebanon.

“I had a very productive conversation with him… he’s doing exceptionally well,” Trump remarked about Modi, describing the dialogue as encouraging.

During his briefing with White House reporters, Trump mentioned his willingness to visit Pakistan should a diplomatic agreement be reached. “I would definitely consider traveling to Pakistan… Islamabad, I might go there,” he stated. “If an agreement is finalized in Islamabad, I would likely go… they are inviting me.”

He characterized relations with Pakistan positively, noting, “Pakistan has been wonderful; they have been very supportive.”

Trump’s comments coincide with the United States pursuing various diplomatic efforts across the Middle East, including talks with Iran and attempts to deescalate tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border.

He indicated that a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon is being formulated and may involve Hezbollah. “They’re all coming to an agreement… it’s a promising arrangement for about a week,” he suggested.

Trump mentioned dialogues with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese leaders, stating, “We’ll be meeting with Bibi Netanyahu… and the President of Lebanon.”

He described this development as pivotal, stating, “It’s very thrilling because it’s been 48 years.”

Additionally, he pointed to the potential for direct discussions between Israel and Lebanon, saying, “We’re planning a meeting… the first in 44 years,” and hinted it could happen at the White House.

On the topic of Hezbollah, Trump expressed confidence in their adherence to the ceasefire, saying, “I believe they will comply.”

His goal is to diminish violence, stating, “We’re not looking at a situation with extensive bombings… our aim is to foster peace between Lebanon and Israel,” he commented.

Trump suggested that progress could be imminent, stating, “Within the next week or two,” when asked about the timeline.

He also noted Lebanon’s role in managing Hezbollah, saying, “They’re going to handle Hezbollah… they’ll be addressing Hezbollah immediately,” he said.

Furthermore, the President indicated he might travel to the region should discussions progress. “I would definitely consider going there… at the right moment,” he stated.

These remarks underscore Washington’s expanding diplomatic efforts spanning South Asia and the Middle East as it strives for advancements regarding Iran and overall regional stability.
