Houston, July 2 (NationPress) US President Donald Trump has called on Hamas to accept a 60-day ceasefire agreement, indicating that Israel has consented to the essential conditions.
"I sincerely hope, for the stability of the Middle East, that Hamas will embrace this deal, as conditions are unlikely to improve—IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE!" Trump expressed on Truth Social.
"Israel has consented to the necessary terms to finalize the 60-Day CEASEFIRE, and during this period, we will collaborate with all involved to put an end to the conflict," Trump stated.
"My representatives had a lengthy and fruitful discussion with the Israelis today regarding Gaza," he mentioned, noting that Qatar and Egypt will present the final proposal.
As reported by CNN, the upcoming proposal aims to address several of Hamas' concerns, with the potential release of Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners during the ceasefire.
Last week, Trump indicated to the media that "we anticipate a ceasefire within the next week" in Gaza, though he did not elaborate at that moment, as reported by Xinhua.
Earlier on Tuesday, Trump announced that he would meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House next Monday to discuss Iran and Gaza.
This will mark the third visit by Netanyahu to the White House since Trump began his second term in January. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated on Monday that ending the Israel-Hamas conflict is now a priority for Trump following recent Israeli actions against Iran.
Israel resumed its military operations in Gaza on March 18, concluding a two-month ceasefire. Since then, over 6,089 Palestinians have tragically lost their lives, and 21,013 others have been injured, per data provided by Gaza's health authorities on Saturday.
The total number of Palestinian deaths has surged to 56,412 since the onset of the Hamas-Israel conflict in October 2023, with a staggering 133,054 individuals wounded.
