Two Sri Lankan Fishing Boats Detained with 400 kg of Narcotics

Colombo, Dec 3 (NationPress) Two Sri Lankan fishing boats that were intercepted in Indian waters while carrying a substantial shipment of crystal methamphetamine, along with the suspects on board, have been escorted to the Colombo Port, as reported by the Sri Lankan Navy.
The drugs seized, weighing approximately 400 kg, resulted from intelligence collaboration between the Indian and Sri Lankan navies, as reported by the Xinhua news agency on Monday.
One of the fishing trawlers was discovered to be carrying the illicit drugs while the other was providing assistance, according to the Sri Lanka Navy.
The Indian Navy apprehended the Sri Lankan suspects and seized the vessels on November 24 and 25 following intelligence shared by Sri Lanka.
Subsequently, the drug haul, fishing trawlers, and suspects were transferred to the SLNS Gajabahu, a vessel of the Sri Lanka Navy, on November 29.
Thus, the Navy brought the confiscated drugs, fishing vessels, and suspects ashore on Monday for further legal action.
