UAE and Saudi Leaders Engage in Dialogue Amid Rising Syrian Tensions

Abu Dhabi, Dec 2 (NationPress) President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has convened with visiting Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to strategize on averting additional crises in the Middle East.
During their discussions on Sunday, the two leaders emphasized the significance of enhancing Arab collaboration in light of the intricate challenges confronting the region, as reported by the UAE's official news agency WAM.
This meeting occurred amid escalating unrest in Syria, where rebel factions are advancing into government-held territories and have claimed dominance over cities in Aleppo and Idlib provinces, according to Xinhua news agency.
The two Gulf nations also underscored the necessity for unified actions to uphold regional stability and avert a descent into new crises that could jeopardize its security, the report stated.
Regarding the Palestinian issue, both parties highlighted the need for a fair, comprehensive, and lasting peace founded on a two-state solution, ensuring security and stability for all involved.
In a separate context, UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan engaged in telephone talks with his counterparts from Iraq, Jordan, and Egypt. These discussions encompassed an exchange of perspectives on the implications of regional developments for security and stability, with particular focus on Syria.
Sheikh Abdullah reaffirmed the UAE's commitment to supporting Syria in combating terrorism and extremism and expressed his hopes for Iraq's lasting security and prosperity, as stated by WAM.
The meetings underscore crucial ongoing regional concerns, including the need for enhanced cooperation to tackle shared challenges, WAM added.
