Kyiv, Dec 22 (NationPress) Ukraine's recent discussions with US and European allies in Florida over the past three days have been described as productive and constructive by Rustem Umerov, Ukraine's leading peace negotiator. In a post on Facebook, Umerov highlighted that the dialogues centered on advancing a 20-point peace plan, ensuring alignment on multilateral and US security guarantees for Ukraine, as well as enhancing an economic and prosperity framework, according to reports from Xinhua news agency.
The discussions also covered the timelines and sequencing for subsequent actions.
Umerov reiterated, “Ukraine is steadfast in its commitment to achieving a fair and sustainable peace.” He emphasized that the primary goal is to halt the violence, guarantee security, and establish a foundation for Ukraine's recovery, stability, and long-term prosperity.
“True peace entails more than just stopping hostilities; it must also lay a dignified groundwork for a stable future,” he added, affirming Ukraine's intention to maintain close collaboration with the US and European partners in the forthcoming phases.
Key national security advisors from Europe participated in the discussions to harmonize a collective strategic approach among Ukraine, the US, and Europe.
Steve Witkoff, the US presidential special envoy, echoed Umerov's sentiments on X, stating that a series of productive and constructive meetings took place over the last three days.
The Ukrainian delegation included Umerov, who also serves as the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, alongside Andriy Hnatov, the chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
