United Nations, May 8 (NationPress) The UN ceasefire monitors stationed in Kashmir and the Pakistan-occupied area are confirmed safe and accounted for following the recent Indian missile strikes targeting terror infrastructure and the accompanying Pakistani shelling, as reported by a UN spokesperson.
Stephanie Tremblay, the associate spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, stated on Wednesday, "We have verified with our colleagues in peacekeeping, and they have confirmed that all personnel are safe and accounted for."
Known formally as the UN Military Observers Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP), the group consists of 44 military personnel and 75 civilian staff that are deployed on both sides of the Line of Control (LOC) in Kashmir.
Currently led by Mexican Major General Ramon Guardado Sanchez, UNMOGIP has been operational since 1949, tasked with monitoring the delicate ceasefire in Kashmir under a UN Security Council mandate.

The Indian Army confirmed that it had targeted nine locations deep within Pakistan in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror incident.
"Earlier today, the Indian Armed Forces initiated 'Operation Sindoor', striking terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir where attacks against India have been orchestrated," the Army declared in a press statement.
The Indian Army also shared on its official X account, "Justice is Served. Jai Hind."
"In total, nine (9) sites were targeted. Our actions have been focused, calculated, and non-escalatory. No Pakistani military facilities were harmed, showcasing India's considerable restraint in both target selection and execution methods," the Army stated.
