US-Led Airstrikes Strike Houthi Military Installations in Yemen's Capital

Sanaa, Dec 31 (NationPress) A series of airstrikes targeted military installations in Yemen's capital, Sanaa, on Tuesday afternoon, as reported by al-Masirah TV, which is run by the Houthi group.

Two of the strikes hit the Defence Ministry building and various other locations in downtown Sanaa, while additional strikes impacted the 1st Armor Division and an ammunition manufacturing facility located in the city center, according to al-Masirah TV, which provided no further details.

Emergency vehicles were observed rushing to the locations, while Houthi forces secured the affected areas. Local residents noted that the intensity of the airstrikes reverberated throughout the city, causing partial damage to some homes near the targeted sites.

It's estimated that numerous Houthi fighters were present at these locations during the attacks, although the Houthi faction typically refrains from revealing details about casualties or losses.

These airstrikes followed shortly after the Houthi group claimed responsibility for missile assaults conducted overnight targeting Ben Gurion Airport in Israel's Tel Aviv and a power facility south of Jerusalem, as well as attacks involving rockets and drones against the US aircraft carrier USS Harry Truman.

In the aftermath of the airstrikes, US Central Command (CENTCOM) released a statement via social media platform X, indicating that its forces have carried out multiple precision strikes against Houthi targets in Sanaa and coastal regions controlled by the Houthis.

"On Dec. 30 and 31, U.S. Navy vessels and aircraft targeted a Houthi command and control facility along with advanced conventional weapon (ACW) production and storage sites, which included missiles and uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAV)." The statement continued to assert that these facilities were utilized in Houthi operations, including attacks against U.S. Navy warships and merchant vessels operating in the southern Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, as reported by the Xinhua news agency.

CENTCOM also mentioned that US Navy and Air Force aircraft successfully destroyed a Houthi coastal radar installation, along with seven cruise missiles and one-way attack UAVs over the Red Sea.

Fortunately, there were no reported injuries or damages to US personnel or equipment during either incident, as CENTCOM indicated that these airstrikes are part of ongoing efforts to diminish Houthi capabilities that pose a threat to regional allies and maritime vessels in the vicinity.

The Houthi group, which governs a significant portion of northern Yemen, has been consistently launching rocket and drone strikes against Israel and disrupting shipping linked to Israel in the Red Sea since November 2023, in a display of support for Palestinians in Gaza amid their ongoing conflict with Israeli forces.

In reaction, the US-led naval coalition present in the region has frequently conducted air raids and strikes against Houthi targets to deter the group, leading the Houthis to extend their attacks to include US warships.
