Moscow, Nov 28 (NationPress) The Kremlin confirmed on Friday that the United States has shared details concerning the peace plan with Russia following recent discussions between the US and Ukraine in Geneva.
According to Russian state news agency TASS, Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov stated during a media briefing in Moscow that, “The key details have been handed over, and discussions will take place in Moscow next week.”
Peskov reiterated Russia's dedication to negotiations aimed at resolving the Ukrainian crisis, yet emphasized that Russia prefers to keep these discussions private.
When questioned about the specific aspects of the settlement being discussed, Peskov remarked, “We prefer not to get ahead of ourselves and discuss this in a public, megaphone format.”
On November 23, the US and Ukraine engaged in discussions regarding a 28-point peace plan. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio characterized the meeting as “the most productive” since the onset of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
Previously, Russian President Vladimir Putin indicated that the US plan could be a foundation for resolving the Ukraine situation.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Friday that Ukrainian and US representatives would continue to refine the points agreed upon in Geneva in order to ensure Ukraine's path to peace and security guarantees.
Zelensky mentioned, “At the end of the week, our team – together with American representatives – will continue to translate the points we secured in Geneva into a form that puts us on the path to peace and security guarantees.” He added that there would be a meeting of delegations, and the Ukrainian team would be well-prepared for substantive discussions.
He continued, “We are in close contact with the American side and our European allies. I am also updating our partners globally, and I appreciate their support for our sovereignty and state. We are committed to ensuring that Ukraine receives adequate defense support.”
On Tuesday, US President Donald Trump mentioned that his peace plan has been “fine-tuned” with feedback from both Russia and Ukraine, and he is sending envoys to the leaders of both nations to finalize the agreement.
Trump noted that there are only a “few remaining points of disagreement” regarding the 28-point plan, which was revised after consultations.
He stated, “In an effort to finalize this Peace Plan, I have directed my Special Envoy Steve Witkoff to meet with President [Vladimir] Putin in Moscow, while Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll will meet with the Ukrainians.”
Trump expressed eagerness to meet with both President Putin and President Zelensky, “but only when the deal to end this War is FINAL or in its final stages.”
