Washington, Dec 1 (NationPress) US Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed that about four hours of discussions with a Ukrainian delegation in Florida achieved "additional" progress on a new peace plan aimed at resolving the Ukraine crisis, but emphasized that "there is more work to be done."
"This is delicate, it's complicated," Rubio informed reporters following the meeting on Sunday. "There are numerous moving parts, and clearly, there is another party involved that will need to be considered in this equation."
"Our goal is not merely to end the conflict; we also wish to ensure Ukraine's enduring safety," stated the top US diplomat.
Rustem Umerov, secretary of Ukraine's National Security and Defence Council, referred to the discussions as "difficult but fruitful."
"We have made tangible strides towards achieving a fair peace," Umerov, who leads the Ukrainian negotiating team, noted on Facebook, as reported by Xinhua news agency.
The talks took place in Hallandale Beach, Florida, earlier today. Neither Rubio nor Umerov answered questions from the press after the meeting.
US presidential special envoy Steve Witkoff and US President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner also participated in the discussions and are set to travel to Moscow on Monday for further negotiations, according to a report from the Wall Street Journal.
