Dehradun/Uttarkashi, Aug 6 (NationPress) In a rapid and extensive deployment, the Uttarakhand Police has mobilised over 300 personnel - including high-ranking officers and specialised units - to lead the relief and rescue initiatives in the disaster-stricken Dharali region of Uttarkashi district.
This action is a direct response to the increasing severity of the natural disaster that has affected life and infrastructure in this remote Himalayan area.
As per a statement from the Director General of Police Headquarters, the deployment features two Inspectors General of Police, three Superintendents of Police, one Commandant, and 11 Deputy Superintendents of Police.
Leading the mission are senior IPS officers: IG SDRF Arun Mohan Joshi, IG Garhwal Rangi Rajiv Swaroop, Pradeep Kumar Rai, Amit Srivastava, Surjeet Singh Panwar, and Shweta Choubey, who will manage coordination and execution on the ground.
To enhance the operation, the Special Disaster Relief Team (E Company) of the 40th battalion PAC, under the leadership of IRB II’s Shweta Choubey, has also been dispatched alongside 140 jawans from C Company of IRB II, Dehradun.
In addition, 160 police personnel—ranging from inspector to constable—have been sent from Dehradun, Haridwar, Pauri, and Tehri districts, equipped with essential disaster relief gear.
