Sanaa, July 22 (NationPress) The Houthi armed group from Yemen has asserted that they conducted five drone strikes aimed at "military and vital" locations within Israel.
In a statement aired on Houthi-controlled al-Masirah TV, military spokesperson Yahya Sarea indicated that the targets encompassed Ben Gurion Airport, a "military site" in Tel Aviv, Eilat port, Ramon Airport, and a "vital site" in the Ashdod region.
Sarea claimed, "The operation was successful," although he did not provide concrete evidence. He further stated that these attacks were executed in solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza and as retaliation for recent Israeli airstrikes on the port of Hodeidah in Yemen earlier on Monday.
Sarea reiterated a commitment to ongoing strikes against Israel until what he termed the "aggression on Gaza ceases and the blockade on Palestinians is removed."
As of now, there has been no immediate reaction from Israel regarding the Houthi's alleged assaults, as reported by the Xinhua news agency.
This announcement followed Israeli airstrikes on the Hodeidah port located in northwestern Yemen.
According to a statement from the Israel Defense Forces, the strikes were aimed at dismantling military infrastructure, including engineering equipment for rebuilding port facilities, fuel containers, vessels involved in hostile maritime operations, and various other Houthi assets.
Local residents informed Xinhua that the strikes caused significant disruption, with fire and smoke visible from several miles away.
As of now, there have been no reports of casualties from Houthi officials.
The Houthi armed group, which exerts control over much of northern Yemen—including the port of Hodeidah and the capital Sanaa—has been targeting Israeli locations since November 2023 as a show of solidarity with the Palestinian people during the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza.
