Seoul, Aug 11 (NationPress) The trial regarding the insurrection of incarcerated former President Yoon Suk Yeol was conducted without his presence for the fourth time in a row on Monday.
The Seoul Central District Court held a trial hearing for the first time since July 24, following a two-week summer recess for all courts, but Yoon did not show up.
The ex-president is facing serious allegations of orchestrating an insurrection and misusing his authority through the hasty declaration of martial law in December, as reported by Yonhap news agency.
He has refrained from attending the hearings since July 10 when he was imprisoned for the second time due to the martial law situation, citing health issues.
His legal team has claimed that he has been in considerable discomfort since last Thursday when investigators from special counsel Min Joong-ki sought to forcibly transport him from his detention center to interrogate him regarding election interference claims involving both him and his spouse, Kim Keon Hee.
The court has previously indicated that it would contemplate forcibly bringing him in if he continues to miss his trial.
