Amaravati, June 4 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Nara Chandrababu Naidu, has instructed officials to facilitate the adoption of 15 lakh families in the state by Margadarsis (mentors) by August 15 this year as part of the Zero Poverty P4 mission.
During a review meeting on Wednesday, he stressed the importance of expediting the registration of Margadarsis and the adoption process.
He noted that the P4 model continues the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) policy initiated post-economic reforms and directed that the Smart Andhra Pradesh Foundation be transformed into the Swarna Andhra P4 Foundation.
The Chief Minister pointed to Amaravati's land pooling model as a successful example of the P4 strategy, highlighting that 29,000 farmers benefited from being engaged in capital development. He encouraged each Margadarsi to adopt a ‘Bangaru Kutumbam’ (Golden Family) and strive for their improvement.
The CM mentioned he would personally assess the progress of the P4 initiative every ten days and reviewed the designs of the P4 logo created by officials.
Officials reported that numerous organizations, including Milaap, Project DEEP, Rang De, and Bhargo, have stepped forward to partner in the effective execution of the P4 initiative.
From the 19,15,771 families registered as Bangaru Kutumbalu in the state, Margadarsis have successfully adopted 70,272 families. The majority of these families belong to the BC community (26,340 families), followed by SCs (14,024 families) and STs (13,115 families).
Previously, the Chief Minister led a Cabinet meeting where he was commended for conducting 25 paperless e-Cabinet meetings within a year.
The Cabinet made several decisions, including approving the Home Department's proposal to grant special remission to 17 life-convicted prisoners who meet the criteria established by the Supreme Court for early release.
Eligible prisoners include those who have served a minimum of 14 years for capital offenses and 7 years for life sentences.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved a one-time settlement of Rs. 575.75 lakh for ensuring safe drinking water through RO Plants in the Uddanam area and tribal regions of the Srikakulam district under NTR Sujala Pathakam, along with a Rs. 822.86 lakh settlement for 15 water treatment plants to serve 533 water-scarce habitations across four mandals in the Kuppam constituency of Chittoor district.
