Kannauj, May 4 (NationPress) A woman, approximately 40 years old, has been murdered, with her body discovered in a farm in Uttar Pradesh's Kannauj, as reported by a police official on Sunday.
According to senior district police officer Vinod Kumar, the body exhibited injuries on the face and other areas, indicating that the victim had been physically attacked.
A farmer named Ramvilas found the body in his maize field in Tahsipur Thatia village during the morning hours, Kumar noted.
A forensic team was summoned to gather evidence; however, it appears to be a clear case of murder at first glance, he stated.
The police discovered blood stains at two distinct locations, and the victim’s bangles were found broken, suggesting that violence had been perpetrated against her.
Officials mentioned that only a post-mortem examination could determine if the victim had been sexually assaulted prior to her murder and disposal in the field.
Kumar indicated that an investigation is underway to uncover the motive for the murder.
“We are exploring every possible angle in this case. The investigation team aims to ascertain whether the murder is tied to a family feud, a property dispute, or other factors,” he asserted.
The police noted that while the victim’s saree remains missing, her blouse and petticoat were found on her body, implying there may have been an attempt to disrobe her.
Some villagers reported evidence suggesting that the woman’s earrings had been forcibly removed; however, police stated it is premature to conclude if robbery was the motive behind the crime.
Previously, the area around Thatia police station gained media attention due to the honour killing of a teenage girl by her father in Asare village.
On Friday, the victim’s father, Mahendra Jatav, confessed to murdering his daughter to frame her lover, leading to his arrest.
Jatav claimed he killed his daughter with two relatives and incinerated her body in a jungle in Karsah. He even paid ₹70,000 to two individuals from a neighboring village to dispose of the body.
To mislead authorities, Jatav had filed a missing persons report for his daughter in February, pretending she had been killed by her lover.
