Patna, March 6 (NationPress) The remains of a woman were discovered with 10 nails embedded in her feet in Bihar's Nalanda district on Thursday.
The grim discovery took place in Bahadurpur village, which falls under the Chandi Police Station jurisdiction, on Wednesday evening.
Local residents stumbled upon the body and promptly notified the police.
Responding to the report, officers from Chandi Police arrived at the scene, recovered the body, and transported it to Biharsharif Sadar Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
According to Suman Kumar, the Station House Officer of Chandi Police Station, "An investigation is currently in progress to ascertain the circumstances leading to her being found on the roadside near Bahadurpur village."
Authorities believe that the woman may have been assaulted prior to her murder.
In the aftermath of this shocking incident, Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, criticized Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and raised the matter in the House.
He accused CM Nitish of not safeguarding women in his own district.
Tejashwi also shared a post on his social media platform X, stating: "Bihar ranks among the top states in crimes against women. The CM should feel ashamed. If someone is not moved by this horrifying incident, especially in his home district, then he lacks humanity."
Tejashwi has been consistently challenging the Nitish administration over the escalating crime rates and the declining law and order situation in the state.
In response, the Nitish government has reminded former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi of the "jungle raj" during the tenure of his parents, Lalu Prasad and Rabri Devi.
Furthermore, it has emphasized the advancements and development that have taken place in the state since Nitish Kumar assumed the role of Chief Minister in 2005.
