Tejashwi Yadav Critiques Nitish Kumar on Law and Order Crisis in Bihar
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Patna, April 9 (NationPress) Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition, has vehemently criticized the ruling coalition in Bihar, spearheaded by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the BJP, claiming that law and order has entirely broken down in the state.
Pointing to a horrific murder in Forbesganj, located in Araria district, Yadav characterized the prevailing conditions in Bihar as a state of total disarray.
"The government is preoccupied with political maneuvering and forming alliances, while the situation in Bihar has descended into chaos. Hospitals are devoid of treatment options, essential medications are in short supply, and even stretchers are missing," he remarked.
Expressing his outrage regarding the Forbesganj incident, Yadav stated, "A man was beheaded in broad daylight, and the perpetrator wandered freely, brandishing the victim's head. Where is the administration? Where is the law enforcement?"
According to law enforcement, the incident transpired near the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) area around 9 am on Thursday, following a dispute between a driver and a local Sattu vendor over parking.
The deceased driver, Nabi Hussain, was allegedly attacked by the vendor, Rahul Chauhan, who used a sharp weapon, resulting in the gruesome decapitation.
After the attack, Chauhan fled, igniting public outrage.
A crowd soon gathered, initiating a search for him.
He was ultimately discovered hiding in nearby bushes, leading to a mob assault that resulted in his death, transforming the incident into a case of mob lynching.
Yadav further asserted that under the NDA government, Bihar now ranks among the states with the highest crime rates.
The RJD leader also challenged the government's performance regarding economic indicators, referencing reports from NITI Aayog.
"Bihar continues to be the poorest state, exhibiting the lowest per capita income, the highest unemployment rate, and significant out-migration. In every sector, from education to healthcare, the state is lagging behind," he stated.
Yadav also highlighted severe financial distress within the state.
"Salaries and pensions are delayed. Even ministers are without pay. I myself have not received my salary. Contractors are awaiting their dues. The entire system has collapsed," he asserted.
He accused those in power of being more concerned with sand and liquor trade than effective governance, claiming that the so-called double-engine government lacks vision and a concrete development agenda for Bihar.
