Patna, July 12 (NationPress) The Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav, fiercely criticized the Nitish government on Saturday regarding the increasingly alarming law and order situation in the state.
This latest condemnation stemmed from the shocking murder of Vikram Jha, a trader in Patna.
Taking to social media, Tejashwi expressed his disbelief at the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's apparent silence on the escalating crime rates in Bihar.
"Businessman Vikram Jha was shot dead in Patna. The issues with DK Tax, the transfer industry, and the state’s chaotic circumstances are contributing factors. Why is the absent Chief Minister silent? Who is accountable for the numerous murders occurring in Bihar? The corrupt Bhuja Party should provide answers," his post stated.
Tejashwi accused the government of allowing extortion rackets and corruption within the police and administrative sectors to flourish, creating an environment that emboldens criminals throughout the state.
Jha, the owner of Trishna Mart, was murdered in the Zakariapur area, falling under the jurisdiction of the Ram Krishna Nagar police station, on Friday night.
The incident transpired around 11 p.m. when unidentified assailants on a motorcycle opened fire at Jha before fleeing the scene. Locals rushed him to a hospital, but he later succumbed to his injuries, and his body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
Simultaneously, Alka Lamba, president of the All India Mahila Congress, who visited Patna to assess preparations for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, also criticized the Nitish government.
"Just as Nitish Kumar's health is declining, the law and order situation in Bihar is deteriorating," she remarked.
Lamba claimed that under the current administration, neither businessmen nor leaders, women, or girls are secure in Bihar, with the "consistent rise in crime" fostering an "atmosphere of fear" among residents.
Attacking the BJP-JD(U) alliance, she said: "This is a double-engine government, but it’s time for it to go. Whether in Delhi or Bihar, both have double-engine governments, and law and order has collapsed in both regions."
