Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Patna, Feb 25 (NationPress) Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition (LoP), has vehemently criticized the Nitish Kumar administration for the alarming deterioration of law and order in Bihar.
While addressing journalists outside the Bihar Legislative Assembly, Tejashwi asserted that murders are happening on a daily basis across the state, indicating that the government has lost its grip on criminal activities.
“Criminals are now completely unchecked. Anyone feeling compelled to shoot is doing so. The citizens of Bihar are living in constant fear,” he remarked, claiming that the government’s credibility in maintaining law and order has vanished.
He emphasized that despite having a Chief Minister and two Deputy Chief Ministers, no one is prepared to take accountability for the escalating crime rates.
“The government has utterly failed. The general populace feels threatened,” he stated.
In response to a query regarding the shooting incident involving a bride at a wedding, Tejashwi specifically targeted Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, asserting that he is at his most vulnerable political phase.
He noted that Nitish Kumar has never delegated the Home Ministry to anyone during his tenure, but with the portfolio now removed from him, crime has markedly increased.
“Since the Home Department was reassigned, criminal activities have surged. Criminals are receiving protection from individuals associated with the government,” Tejashwi alleged.
The RJD leader also raised concerns about the timing of the infiltration issue discussed during Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Bihar, suggesting it was strategically timed ahead of the West Bengal Assembly elections.
“This narrative of infiltration is being reiterated before elections for political gain. We’ve seen this pattern during previous elections in Jharkhand and Bihar,” he claimed.
Tejashwi further criticized the central government for the state of the country’s economy, asserting that the Indian rupee is depreciating while the government remains silent amidst rising tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump.
“The central government shows no concern for pressing issues. Instead of tackling economic problems, they are engrossed in political theatrics and diversions,” the LoP stated.
With his remarks focusing on crime, governance, and economic turmoil, Tejashwi Yadav’s statements suggest that law and order will continue to be a significant political flashpoint in Bihar moving forward.
