Expressing alarm over the online accessibility of this hazardous string, Hyderabad Police Commissioner C. V. Anand stated on Tuesday that they might proceed with raids on e-commerce warehouses and convene a meeting with the stakeholders.
"The primary factor contributing to the presence of the so-called Chinese Manjha, which is actually produced by Indians in India, is e-commerce, allowing anyone to order it online. Therefore, we may need to raid the e-commerce warehouses and hold discussions about this! Is it not concerning that people are not taking any precautions voluntarily when it poses such a danger!?" the Police Commissioner remarked on X, in response to media reports highlighting the easy accessibility of Chinese Manjha on online platforms.
On Monday, the police announced the arrest of 148 individuals engaged in the illegal trade of prohibited Chinese Manjha, a synthetic nylon string coated with abrasive substances like glass powder or metal, which poses significant threats to public safety, wildlife, and the environment.
Since October 2024, a total of 107 cases have been registered at various police stations across the city.

There have been previous instances of fatalities linked to the use of Chinese Manjha for kite-flying.
