Chennai, June 9 (NationPress) DMK Deputy General Secretary and Nilgiris MP, A. Raja, on Monday, launched a strong critique against Union Home Minister Amit Shah, alleging that his speech was laden with falsehoods, divisive rhetoric, and political malice during his recent visit to Madurai.
Speaking to reporters in Chennai, Raja remarked that it was inappropriate for a Union Home Minister to disregard the dignity of his position and engage in unfounded accusations aimed at provoking communal unrest in a peaceful state governed by the opposition.
"His remarks were disgraceful and detrimental to federalism and Centre-State relations. The intent was clearly to create discord for political advantage," he asserted.
He emphasized that the citizens of Tamil Nadu would not be deceived by what he termed Amit Shah's shallow manipulations and politically charged narratives.
The senior DMK official criticized the BJP-led Central government for failing to acknowledge the developmental progress achieved by the Tamil Nadu government under Chief Minister M.K. Stalin's leadership.
He stated that the DMK administration had successfully maintained welfare initiatives and infrastructure projects funded by the state, despite the Centre's delays in releasing allocations.
"The BJP is unable to tolerate Tamil Nadu's growth. That is why they resort to political theatrics that breach all standards of political respectability. This reflects poorly on Amit Shah's responsibilities as Union Home Minister," Raja stated.
He dismissed claims that Union Minister Shah's visit had unsettled the DMK.
"In reality, it is the BJP that is anxious due to the DMK's accomplishments. The people of Tamil Nadu have consistently rejected the BJP's communal and divisive agenda, standing firmly with the DMK in every election," Raja commented.
Highlighting Prime Minister Modi's multiple visits during the Lok Sabha campaign, he added, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Tamil Nadu five times during the recent general elections. This alone indicates who is truly fearful."
Raja also mentioned that the DMK has honored nearly all its electoral commitments, except for the restoration of the old pension scheme for government employees.
"The Chief Minister has established a committee to evaluate their requests. We are undeterred by PM Modi or Amit Shah. Their ideology may find favor elsewhere, but in Tamil Nadu, the Dravidian ideology serves as a counter to the BJP's philosophy," he asserted.
In response to inquiries regarding the upcoming Lord Murugan Devotees' Conference (Murugan Maanadu) organized by the BJP in Madurai on June 22, Raja claimed that unlike the religious event previously organized by the state's Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department, the BJP's event is politically motivated.
"They are attempting to exploit religious sentiments and ignite communal tensions. The people of Madurai are aware of their intentions and will reject such divisive actions," he stated.
Raja also questioned Amit Shah's silence on the Keeladi excavation report.
"If he (Amit Shah) genuinely cares for Tamil as he professes, why hasn't the Centre accepted the Keeladi report yet? Their mindset is against Tamils and the Dravidian identity. They will face repercussions in the 2026 Assembly elections," the DMK leader cautioned.
