Ahmedabad, March 22 (NationPress) The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has declared its intention to participate in the forthcoming local self-government elections in Gujarat without forming any alliances. This announcement was made by the party's state president, Isudan Gadhvi, during a press conference held in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
Gadhvi emphasized that the party is committed to its independent electoral strategy, stating, “AAP will not engage in any alliances for these local elections. We are moving forward with our unique strategy and will be among the first to unveil our candidates.”
He noted that over the past three days, the party's screening committee has convened to discuss candidate selections with top leadership.
The initial list of candidates is anticipated to be released soon, with discussions for a subsequent list already in progress.
Gadhvi mentioned, “We aim to finalize our second list during Arvind Kejriwal's visit to Gujarat, with an announcement expected by March 28–29.”
The selection process is open, allowing applications from potential candidates, which Gadhvi described as an effort to provide opportunities to everyday citizens.
The party's preparations coincide with an upcoming visit from its national convenor, Arvind Kejriwal, and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, scheduled from March 24 to 27.
During this visit, both leaders will host public meetings across various regions, including Saurashtra and tribal areas.
According to Gadhvi, “Vijay Vishwas Sabha” events focusing on farmers’ issues will take place in Amreli on March 25 and Jamnagar on March 26, where Kejriwal is expected to address concerns pertinent to the farming community.
On March 27, a significant public gathering in Dahod will see Kejriwal and Mann discussing issues affecting tribal communities.
Gadhvi indicated that the discussions during this visit would cover the challenges faced by the poor, marginalized, and tribal groups.
He added, “Conversations with Kejriwal and Mann will also address the candidate selection process and our broader election strategy.”
Additionally, the party plans to discuss the upcoming by-election for the Umreth Assembly seat in the leadership meetings, with decisions expected soon.
