Dehradun, Sep 28 (NationPress) The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) achieved a remarkable victory in the 2025 Uttarakhand student union elections, securing 332 positions, which includes 58 union presidents, as reported by a student leader on Sunday.
Following the BJP-affiliated ABVP's landmark success, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami remarked: “The overwhelming triumph of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad across various colleges in Uttarakhand demonstrates that the youth have provided a strong and definitive rebuttal to anti-national and anti-Sanatan ideologies.”
This win has invigorated the community, especially as certain factions attempted to promote an anti-national agenda, disrespecting Sanatan, he emphasized.
The Chief Minister went on to underscore his administration’s initiatives aimed at empowering youth, including the anti-cheating legislation and job creation in the government sector.
“We have announced over 25,000 government job openings, instilling hope and enthusiasm among young aspirants,” he stated.
The ABVP's strong presence in key educational institutions, such as DAV PG College Dehradun, HNB Garhwal University, Shuddhowala Doon, Rishikesh, Kotdwar, Khatima, and Srinagar, signifies an extensive organizational reach, spanning urban, semi-urban, and hilly areas, according to a student leader.
The ABVP’s five-point agenda — which includes transparent examinations, educational reforms, student rights advocacy, campus discipline, and a nationalist ideology — resonated significantly with the student electorate, who participated eagerly in the voting on Saturday.
Among the 332 student union posts captured by the ABVP, the breakdown includes 58 Presidents, 52 Vice Presidents, 47 General Secretaries, 51 Treasurers, 50 Joint Secretaries, 62 University Representatives, 6 Cultural Secretaries, and 6 Women Vice Presidents.
Historically, student politics in Uttarakhand has been a nurturing ground for future leaders of the state. This decisive win for the ABVP is not merely a student organization triumph but also viewed as a strategic advantage for the BJP and its nationalist ideology, a BJP leader noted.
The ABVP's stronghold in student politics may potentially shape youth voting trends in upcoming state assembly elections, he added.
A leader from the ruling party stated that the ABVP’s historic achievement in the Uttarakhand student union elections clearly indicates that today’s youth favor a value-driven, transparent, and issue-oriented political approach.
“The outcomes also reflect broad support for Chief Minister Dhami’s youth-focused governance model,” he concluded.
