Jaipur, Dec 15 (NationPress) Following directives from ACB Headquarters, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Bikaner Special Unit apprehended Purushottam Joshi, a Tax Assistant in the Commercial Tax Department, on Monday for allegedly receiving a bribe of Rs 50,000.
According to Govind Gupta, the Director General of ACB, a complaint was lodged claiming that the accused demanded a bribe of Rs 50,000 while pressuring the complainant regarding a recovery notice.
After confirming the complaint, a trap operation was orchestrated under the guidance of Bhuvan Bhushan Yadav, the Deputy Inspector General of Police for Bikaner ACB.
The operation was carried out by Ashish Kumar, the Additional Superintendent of Police, along with his team from the ACB Bikaner Special Unit.
During the operation, Purushottam Joshi was apprehended in the act of accepting the bribe of Rs 50,000.
Upon interrogation by ACB officials, the accused claimed that the bribe was intended for his colleague, Kalicharan Joshi, a Senior Assistant who is currently evading arrest and is being pursued.
Further investigations and legal procedures are being conducted under the supervision of Smita Srivastava, the Additional Director General of Police for ACB.
A case has been filed under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and inquiries are ongoing.
Previously, on December 12, the ACB Pali II Unit arrested Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Bhagaram for soliciting a bribe of Rs 2,00,000. He was caught red-handed while accepting Rs 1,00,000 as part of the bribe.
According to the ACB Director General of Police, the Pali II Outpost received a complaint about ASI Bhagaram, who was allegedly harassing the complainant by demanding a bribe to dismiss a case filed against the complainant's father at the Raipur Police Station.
The complaint was verified under the supervision of Bhuvan Bhushan Yadav, Deputy Inspector General of Police for ACB Jodhpur range, and led by Kheenv Singh, the Additional Superintendent of Police and ACB Pali II In-Charge.
