Mumbai, Sep 11 (NationPress) In a significant move, President Droupadi Murmu has appointed Acharya Devvrat, the Governor of Gujarat, to also fulfill the responsibilities of the Governor of Maharashtra. This decision follows the resignation of former Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan, who stepped down after being elected as the Vice President of India.
The President's office released a statement highlighting, "Following the resignation of C.P. Radhakrishnan as Governor of Maharashtra due to his election as Vice President of India, Acharya Devvrat has been appointed to manage the duties of the Governor of Maharashtra alongside his existing responsibilities."
Governor Devvrat is also the Vice Chancellor for several universities across Gujarat.
Before his current role as Governor of Gujarat since 2019, Devvrat had previously served as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh.
