New Delhi, Oct 29 (NationPress) The Deputy Chief Minister candidate of Mahagathbandhan and leader of the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP), Mukesh Sahani, has stated that upon the formation of the Mahagathbandhan government in Bihar, a thorough review and potential amendment of the current liquor prohibition policy will be undertaken.
“Once our government is established, we will reintroduce 'Taadi'. The liquor ban in Bihar was intended for the public's welfare and was anticipated to yield benefits; however, it has not been effective. It is crucial for the government to evaluate the extent of losses incurred by the state as a result of this policy… When we take charge, we will conduct this review,” Sahani articulated on Wednesday.
The VIP chief highlighted that the prohibition, which was enforced nearly ten years ago, has not fulfilled its professed social objectives and has instead led to significant economic drawbacks and enforcement complications.
He asserted that reassessing this policy is vital for fostering social equilibrium and revitalizing rural economies linked to toddy tapping.
Addressing the NDA's Chief Ministerial candidate for the forthcoming Bihar elections, Sahani urged, “Hold a press conference and announce it. In Maharashtra, they contested under Eknath Shinde’s name but ultimately he was excluded...”
In another pointed political remark, Sahani emphasized the concept of public leadership, referencing the legacy of socialist icon Karpoori Thakur. “A genuine jan-nayak is not inherently born; rather, they become one through their actions. Our Karpoori Thakur emerged as a jan-nayak due to his contributions. Every individual in this nation has the potential to become a jan-nayak through their efforts. It is a misconception that only one person can achieve this status...”
“Tejashwi Yadav could also evolve into a jan-nayak in the future, Rahul Gandhi might as well, and even you can, provided you tread that path,” he remarked, receiving enthusiastic applause from the audience.
Sahani’s statements, made amid the Mahagathbandhan's vigorous campaign, highlight the alliance's strategy to merge social justice principles with policy reevaluation and grassroots engagement.
The Bihar Assembly election is set for November 6 and 11, with results to be announced on November 14.
