New Delhi, Feb 28 (NationPress) Vaishali Bhandari, a resident of Gujarat's Ahmedabad, penned a heartfelt letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressing her gratitude after the Central government awarded 'classical language' status to Marathi.
Upon receiving a letter from PM Modi, Vaishali was filled with joy.
"It felt as if he (PM Modi) himself had called out to me, 'Vaishali'," she said.
According to Hemant Agarkar of Maharashtrian Ahmedabad Samaj, Vaishali Bhandari wrote to thank PM Modi for recognizing Marathi as a 'classical language'.
To her delight, PM Modi responded to her letter, acknowledging her sincere appreciation.
Agarkar noted: "Marathi, the 10th most spoken language globally and the third most spoken in India, boasts a rich history. From the legendary tales of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the Powada folk songs to its profound literary heritage, the Marathi language has significantly contributed to shaping India's spirit of Swaraj."

In the clip, Vaishali appears extremely happy after reading PM Modi's letter.
She expressed her joy at Marathi being recognized as a 'classical language'.
"Marathi is a sweet and beautiful language," she added.
"I take pride in speaking Marathi, which is why I wrote a thank-you letter to PM Modi. I never expected he would respond. After receiving his letter, I felt as though PM Modi himself had come to meet me."
The Prime Minister remarked that language transcends mere communication; it establishes a profound connection with literature.
Vaishali mentioned that whenever possible, PM Modi visits her and ensures he remembers her.
On October 3, 2024, the Union Cabinet, under PM Modi's leadership, approved the conferment of 'Classical Language' status to Marathi, Pali, Prakrit, Assamese, and Bengali languages.
