Agartala, May 29 (NationPress) In a significant address, Tripura's Chief Minister Manik Saha emphasized on Thursday that the integration of technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing education by making it not only more effective but also more accessible.
During the inaugural convocation ceremony of the Maharaja Bir Bikram University, a state-owned institution, held at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala, the Chief Minister affirmed the state government's commitment to transforming MBB University into a premier learning center.
Holding the Education portfolio, Saha detailed various initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of education at MBB University, asserting that the government is implementing a comprehensive plan for advancement.
He remarked that the convocation is a pivotal occasion for the graduates.
The Chief Minister reiterated that leveraging technologies like AI has enriched the educational experience.
“India has a rich educational heritage, with historical institutions like Nalanda University attracting international students. Our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, is actively working to revive this legacy. A new National Education Policy has been introduced, grounded in our traditional culture and values,” Saha stated.
He further mentioned that this new policy is being rolled out across educational institutions in the state.
“India's historical contributions to fields such as mathematics, science, yoga, and philosophy continue to be acknowledged globally. The National Education Policy-2020 has woven this rich tradition into contemporary curricula. Following this vision, a course on the Indian Knowledge System is now available at MBB University,” he explained.
To expand student career prospects, the Chief Minister announced plans to introduce new courses including BBA, MBA, BCA, MCA, BSc, and MSc in Biotechnology at MBB University.
“Assistant Professors are being appointed for colleges, and new institutions are being established under government initiatives. We've also eliminated tuition fees for female students. Programs like the Mukhyamantri Kanya Atmanirbhar Yojana and the Mukhyamantri Yuva Samachar Yojana have been launched, along with the distribution of free scooters to qualifying students,” he added.
The Chief Minister advised graduates to prepare for the challenges ahead as they transition to the next phase of their lives.
“Confront every challenge with skill and competence as you progress in your journey,” he urged.
Saha encouraged students to uphold respect for everyone while maintaining humility. A total of 9,642 graduates, including those from three affiliated colleges, have earned their Graduate/Post-Graduate Degrees and Post-Graduate Diplomas from this university.
Among the graduates, 135 distinguished students received gold medals.
Tripura's Governor, Indrasena Reddy Nallu, was also present at the ceremony.
