Chennai, Nov 12 (NationPress) The opposition AIADMK has declared a significant protest in Tamil Nadu's Tindivanam on November 14, alleging that the DMK government has failed to manage the alarming rise in crimes against women, the proliferation of narcotics, and the overall deterioration of law and order in the state.
Party general secretary and leader of the Opposition Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) stated that the rally will commence at 10 a.m. near the Gandhi statue, led by former minister and Villupuram district secretary C.Ve. Shanmugam.
This demonstration is in response to the recent brutal murder of two temple guards in Virudhunagar, which the AIADMK has labeled a symbol of administrative failure under the DMK regime.
EPS emphasized that this protest was driven by the concerning increase in sexual violence and attacks on women, referencing recent incidents including a police constable's assault complaint in Tindivanam and the gangrape of a college student in Coimbatore.
Such occurrences have instilled fear among women and families throughout the state, he noted.
"These crimes have become a persistent issue, with criminals operating without fear. The government's inaction has only empowered them," Palaniswami stated.
The AIADMK leader also accused the DMK of a significant uptick in drug trafficking and substance misuse among youths during its administration.
Despite numerous warnings through Assembly discussions, public statements, and media coverage, he asserted that the government has failed to implement any serious corrective actions.
EPS further criticized the DMK for what he termed administrative incompetence and insensitivity towards public suffering, adding that rising prices of essential goods and tax increases have led to widespread distress among the populace.
Describing the current situation as a dark chapter in Tamil Nadu's governance, he called upon AIADMK supporters, local representatives, and the public—especially women—to participate in large numbers in the November 14 protest to collectively advocate for justice, safety, and accountability.
