New Delhi, Jan 20 (NationPress) The tableau of the Indian Navy for the upcoming Republic Day Parade in 2026 will carry the theme ‘Strong Navy for a Strong Nation’. It will feature a variety of vessels, including the aircraft carrier INS Vikrant and the 5th Century stitched vessel, now recognized as INSV Kaundinya, according to an official statement.
This stunning tableau will also present Gurab class ships from the Maratha Navy, along with indigenous frontline platforms such as the Project 17A Nilgiri-class stealth frigates INS Himgiri and INS Udayagiri, a Kalvari-class submarine, and the GSAT-7R (Project Rohini) communication satellite, as noted by Contingent Commander Lt Karan Nagyal.
Vice Admiral Praveen Nair, Controller of Personnel Services, emphasized that the Navy's involvement in the Republic Day Parade goes beyond just showcasing military prowess; it also embodies a commitment to promote “Aatmanirbharta”.
The marching contingent of the Navy will consist of 144 young naval personnel marching in unity on the historic Kartavya Path, representing the Navy as a strong and forward-thinking maritime force, stated Lt Karan Nagyal.
The contingent symbolizes a mini-India, featuring sailors from various States and Union Territories. With an average age of 25 years, these personnel have been meticulously chosen from across the Indian Navy and have undergone over two months of specialized training in preparation for the parade.
Leading this contingent will be Lt Karan Nagyal as the Contingent Commander, with Lt Pawan Kumar Gandi, Lt Priti Kumari, and Lt Varun Dreveriya serving as Platoon Commanders.
The Indian Navy Band, consisting of 80 musicians, will be under the direction of M Antony Raj, MCPO Musician First Class. At the Beating Retreat Ceremony on January 29, 2026, the band will perform captivating compositions and arrangements of stirring and lively tunes, complemented by an impressive display of diverse formations, including six women Agniveer musicians.
