The Chief Minister conveyed his condolences regarding Ajit Pawar’s unexpected passing on X.
"I am deeply shocked to learn about the premature departure of Ajit Pawar Sb. My acquaintance with Ajit da goes back to my college days in Bombay, when I stayed with Sharad Pawar Sb and his family at Varsha. Ajit da was not only a proficient administrator but also a masterful political strategist; his absence will be profoundly felt. I extend my heartfelt condolences to Sharad Pawar Sb, Supriya, and the entire family," he posted on X.
In a similar vein, Farooq Abdullah described the news as "heartbreaking." He stated, "Ajit Pawar was a remarkable son of Maharashtra who earnestly endeavored to transform the state's future. His sudden loss in the plane crash has left me deeply saddened," he remarked to reporters.
He further mentioned that the contributions of the late politician would be remembered forever.
“Today, India mourns the loss of one of its esteemed sons. No one can command the will of Allah. He was en route to Pune for election preparations, yet fate was unkind. His demise is not just a profound loss for the Pawar family but for the nation at large," the Chief Minister added.
Offering his sympathies to Sharad Pawar and other family members, Abdullah prayed for the soul of the departed and sought strength for the family to cope with this grief.
Pawar, aged 66, along with four others tragically lost their lives when the private aircraft they were aboard crashed while attempting an emergency landing near his hometown, Baramati, in Pune district on Wednesday morning. The leader of the Nationalist Congress Party was traveling from Mumbai to Baramati, where he was slated to participate in rallies for the February 5 zilla parishad elections, at the time of the incident.
