Chandigarh, Jan 20 (NationPress) Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia on Monday urged the revocation of the Z-plus security detail assigned to Bibhav Kumar, who previously served as the OSD to former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and is currently an advisor to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
Majithia stated: "Disregarding established protocols, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has completely abandoned ethical standards by providing Z-plus security to an individual facing allegations of molestation against AAP MP Swati Mahiwal."
He emphasized that there is no necessity for security cover for Bibhav Kumar, arguing that “since he resides in Delhi, his safety should be managed by the Delhi Police. The allocation of seven security personnel for him around the clock is unwarranted under any circumstances.”
Majithia urged Chief Minister Mann to clarify to the people of Punjab why he made this decision in his role as Home Minister, asserting: "The AAP government has failed to ensure the security and well-being of taxpayers in Punjab. They have not been able to control gang activity, and now, incidents of terrorism are escalating."
He added, "Prisons have turned into sanctuaries for criminals, from which they orchestrate their unlawful activities. In this context, the Chief Minister should prioritize deploying personnel for law enforcement rather than making decisions to appease Kejriwal."
Majithia also called on the Punjab Police to reject this clearly misguided decision.
In response to Bibhav Kumar's appointment last November, BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh launched a fierce critique of both Kejriwal and Mann.
His comments were prompted by a post on social media platform X by Maliwal, who asserted that Kejriwal had rewarded Kumar by placing him in a high-ranking advisory role for Punjab's Chief Minister.
Maliwal highlighted that the alleged assault, which occurred at Kejriwal's residence on May 13 last year, coincided with Kumar's elevation to a significant administrative post in Punjab, exposing the AAP's true stance on women's treatment.
She condemned Kejriwal, accusing him of "rewarding Kumar" despite the Supreme Court deeming him a "goon."
