Amritsar, April 14 (NationPress) Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia stated on Monday that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is concentrating on attacking Opposition leaders rather than managing the deteriorating law and order situation. The recent assault on the petrol station owned by Shiromani committee member Jodh Singh Samra demonstrated that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is intent on eliminating its critics.
Majithia remarked that gangsters are brazenly targeting Opposition figures. The incident at the petrol station in Kaler Mangat village within the Majitha Assembly area was particularly alarming, as it is associated with SGPC member Samra, who is a close ally and oversees the Akali Dal in the Ajnala segment.
He emphasized that the primary aim of this assault was to intimidate Samra, especially since he was expected to visit the petrol station.
Challenging the police’s narrative that this was merely a robbery, Majithia pointed out that the attack occurred after the station had closed for the night.
He described how the assailants parked their motorcycle on the road and opened fire indiscriminately, resulting in one fatality and two serious injuries, while notably not stealing any money from the station.
Majithia also highlighted that the revenue from this petrol station was significantly lower compared to two others located nearby.
Criticizing the intelligence failure and the case registered against Leader of Opposition (LoP) Partap Singh Bajwa, the SAD leader reiterated his earlier warnings from mid-January about potential threats to peace and communal harmony in the state, predicting that a prominent Hindu leader or businessperson could be the next target.
He recalled that just two months later, there was an attack on former Minister Manoranjan Kalia’s residence.
Moreover, he noted that when Bajwa acted as a whistleblower and alerted authorities about potential grenade attacks, he found himself embroiled in a baseless case.
Majithia questioned whether even journalists who have exposed the intelligence failures would face repercussions.
He asserted that gangsters are currently dominating the state, openly distributing videos and audio recordings that detail attacks in Punjab.
The Akali leader pointed to recent audio messages from notorious figures such as Pakistan don Shehzad Bhatti, Sheezan, and Happy, which reflect their blatant disregard for the police while they continue to target Opposition leaders, police stations, and anyone who dares to criticize this government.
