Did Truth Prevail Over AAP's Political Vendetta Against Majithia?

Key Takeaways
Chandigarh, Feb 2 (NationPress) The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has expressed its support for the bail granted to senior leader Bikram Singh Majithia by the Supreme Court in a Disproportionate Assets case. The party stated that justice has triumphed and that the political vendetta orchestrated by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann against Majithia has been unveiled.
Prominent Akali Dal figures Daljit Singh Cheema and Arshdeep Singh Kler remarked that the AAP government made every effort to imprison Majithia by fabricating a baseless Disproportionate Assets case, which ultimately proved indefensible in the Supreme Court.
They highlighted that the AAP's failure to substantiate a ‘challan’ in the previously filed narcotics case against Majithia led them to fabricate this new case instead.
“This case will face the same fate as the false narcotics case lodged against Majithia,” they asserted.
Cheema further stated that the AAP's actions against Majithia were a desperate attempt to silence him due to his ongoing criticism of the government's flawed policies and his advocacy for the public's rights.
“In doing so, Majithia's human rights were also compromised,” he added, emphasizing that “the people of Punjab will respond decisively to the AAP government for misusing law enforcement and investigative agencies to target its adversaries with politically motivated accusations.”
A bench comprising Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta granted bail to Majithia, acknowledging that he had previously been granted bail in a matter concerning the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, from which the Disproportionate Assets case originates.
“Taking into account that the petitioner received bail in the previous NDPS case in 2022, against which the Special Leave Petition by the state of Punjab was dismissed in 2025, and given that the police report had already been submitted, along with the fact that the Disproportionate Assets case pertains to the period from 2006-2017 and the FIR was filed in 2025, we grant bail,” the court remarked.
