Is There a Conspiracy to Alter SP Votes via Form-7? Akhilesh Yadav Speaks Out
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Lucknow, Feb 8 (NationPress) As the Budget Session of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly approaches, Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav convened a meeting with his MLAs at the party's headquarters. During this gathering, he highlighted the party's approach to challenge the government throughout the session. The discussions included organizational matters as well as alleged irregularities in the electoral process.
Post-meeting, Akhilesh Yadav asserted that the SP had previously raised significant concerns regarding Form-7 in a press conference. He accused the government of employing specific professional agencies tasked with scrutinizing the entire voter list data from regions such as Delhi and Lucknow.
He claimed these agencies are pinpointing booths where the Samajwadi Party has historically excelled in elections and subsequently dispatching large numbers of printed Form-7 applications to remove the names of voters linked to those booths. He added that protests have erupted in multiple locations in response to this issue.
The SP chief mentioned he had gathered information on this matter through media reports, YouTube channels, and journalists reporting from the field. He expressed gratitude towards journalists and digital media stakeholders, stating that many reporters responsibly ventured into the field to inform the public about the alleged electoral process irregularities. He claimed this ground reporting has unveiled how the BJP, in collaboration with the Election Commission, is purportedly manipulating elections.
Akhilesh Yadav indicated that this is not a new occurrence, alleging that elections in Bihar were swayed through the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), which he suggested played a significant role in disrupting the atmosphere, applying pressure, and influencing voters.
Questioning the impartiality of the Election Commission, he stated similar allegations have surfaced concerning Bihar and West Bengal. Citing recent by-elections, he expressed serious concerns about the Election Commission's operations.
He added that the West Bengal government and its Chief Minister have consistently claimed that the Election Commission has become a “BJP commission.” He alleged that similar tactics are being attempted in West Bengal as well, noting that the state government and the Chief Minister had to approach the Supreme Court regarding the alleged biased conduct of the Election Commission, which he claimed has become an ally of the BJP.
Yadav demanded an immediate cessation of what he termed the planned misuse of Form-7, strict action against those accountable, and urged the Election Commission to demonstrate its impartiality. Otherwise, he cautioned, it would constitute a direct assault on democracy.
