Gwalior, June 28 (NationPress) In the midst of a heated exchange between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress regarding the Constitution and its creator, B.R. Ambedkar, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav strongly criticized the Congress party on Saturday.
While inspecting the upcoming Ambedkar memorial in the Jorasi region of Gwalior district, CM Yadav claimed that his wife had to bear all costs related to transporting Ambedkar's mortal remains to Chaitya Bhoomi in Mumbai.
"The Congress did not allocate land in New Delhi for Ambedkar's final rites, and when his remains were sent to Mumbai, they charged his wife for the airfare. This reflects how Congress treated Ambedkar," the Chief Minister stated during a media briefing.
The political feud between the Congress and BJP intensified over the installation of Ambedkar's statue at the Madhya Pradesh High Court in Gwalior.
This planned development has escalated into a significant political controversy now being reviewed by the Supreme Court.
In response to Congress’s allegations regarding the statue installation, CM Yadav launched a counterattack while visiting the memorial being constructed by the BJP government in Gwalior.
He announced that the first phase of the memorial's construction is nearing completion, and he intends to conduct the 'bhoomi pujan' for the second phase next month.
In a direct critique of the Nehru-Gandhi family, CM Yadav emphasized that the Congress has consistently missed opportunities to honor Ambedkar.
"The Congress never considered displaying a portrait of Ambedkar in Parliament, yet the BJP government has built a memorial for him at his birthplace in Mhow. Now, another memorial is being built in Gwalior," he remarked.
CM Yadav also condemned the Congress for its imposition of Emergency in Indore fifty years ago, labeling it an indelible stain on the party.
"Those who enforced Emergency to suppress democracy cannot be absolved of their sins. They will forever carry this burden, yet they dare to question the BJP government," CM Yadav concluded.
