Jammu, Jan 7 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to lead a significant security review meeting regarding Jammu and Kashmir in New Delhi this Thursday. The meeting will see participation from Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, high-ranking officials from the J&K Police, civil administration, CAPFs, intelligence agencies, and key representatives from the home ministry (MHA).
This review marks the first high-level security assessment for the union territory in 2026. It comes on the heels of intensified operations by the J&K Police and security forces targeting terrorists, including those from foreign origins, in the mountainous and remote regions of Jammu.
Officials will outline a coordinated plan aimed at rooting out terrorists hiding in challenging terrains of J&K while ensuring there is no infiltration along the Line of Control (LoC) and the international border (IB).
Expected attendees include L-G Manoj Sinha, top police and administrative figures like Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Home Secretary Chandraker Bharti, Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat, and Intelligence head Nitish Kumar.
Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan along with leaders of all CAPFs and intelligence agencies will also be present.
Senior officials are anticipated to update the Home Minister on various issues, particularly the strategies employed during the winter to maintain zero infiltration rates on the LoC and IB, and the ongoing efforts to eliminate terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's mountainous regions.
In recent months, security forces have been engaged in multiple encounters with terrorists in the higher altitudes of Kishtwar, Doda, Udhampur, and beyond, while thwarting infiltration attempts on both the LoC and the IB.
Intelligence reports indicate that terrorists are attempting to infiltrate with support from the Pakistan Army and ISI.
