Ahmedabad, Oct 22 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah marked his 62nd birthday alongside the celebration of the Gujarati New Year in his native city of Ahmedabad. His residence buzzed with a joyous assembly of senior political figures, party affiliates, and supporters.

Among those who came to personally wish the Home Minister were Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi, BJP state president Jagdish Vishwakarma, Assembly Speaker Shankar Chaudhary, and a host of ministers, MLAs, and councillors.

Throughout the morning, Shah warmly exchanged New Year greetings with visitors and supporters who arrived at his doorstep. Numerous party workers gathered outside his home to share their congratulations. The Home Minister is anticipated to partake in various events across the city on Wednesday and might meet with the recently appointed ministers of the Gujarat cabinet.

Simultaneously, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel made his way to the Cabinet residence complex in Gandhinagar to extend Gujarati New Year wishes to his ministers and staff, as celebratory activities continued throughout the state.

Born in 1964 in Mumbai and nurtured in Ahmedabad, Amit Anilchandra Shah became involved in public life early on through the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). After completing his degree in biochemistry, Shah joined the BJP in the 1980s, coinciding with Narendra Modi's ascent within the party. This collaboration would significantly influence the political landscape of Gujarat and later, all of India.

Shah's exceptional organizational skills gained recognition in the 1990s and early 2000s, where he played a vital role in fortifying the BJP's grassroots framework. As Home Minister and subsequently as Minister of Law and Urban Development in the Gujarat government, he earned a reputation for his efficiency, data-oriented methodology, and his ability to resonate with party members.

He was pivotal in establishing what became known as the “Gujarat model”—an integration of administrative oversight, law enforcement focus, and meticulous political management at the booth level, which provided the BJP with a sustained advantage in the state.

By the mid-2000s, Shah emerged as Narendra Modi's most trusted advisor. His strategies in booth management, detailed voter segmentation, and careful campaign oversight led the BJP to remarkable triumphs in successive state elections. Even opponents acknowledged his precision and organizational discipline.

Following the 2014 elections, when Narendra Modi ascended to the role of Prime Minister, Shah shifted his focus to national politics, becoming the BJP President and later the Home Minister of India. However, many in Gujarat assert that his political roots remain firmly planted in Ahmedabad.
