Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Naidu Requests Special Financial Support from PM Modi

Amaravati/New Delhi, Dec 25 (NationPress) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and key Central ministers such as Amit Shah and Nirmala Sitharaman in Delhi on Wednesday, appealing for special financial support from the Centre.
Chandrababu Naidu, whose party, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), is a significant ally of the BJP-led NDA government, outlined to the Prime Minister and his Cabinet members the dire financial situation facing the state and requested additional assistance.
The TDP leader, who is currently leading the NDA government in Andhra Pradesh, informed the Prime Minister that the previous administration had utilized the five years' revenue deficit grant in just three years and sought further financial aid.
The Chief Minister provided an in-depth explanation of the initiatives undertaken by his government, alongside the financial challenges and other pertinent issues.
Chandrababu Naidu updated the Prime Minister that work on the Polavaram and Amaravati projects has recommenced, expressing gratitude for the support received to advance these initiatives.
He also highlighted to PM Modi the misallocation of funds by the previous government that were intended for 94 Centrally sponsored schemes, noting that of those, 74 have been relaunched.
The Chief Minister informed the Prime Minister about the establishment of an ArcelorMittal Steel Plant in Andhra Pradesh and requested Central assistance for the supply of raw materials for the plant, as well as expedited permissions, as per a statement from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO).
Naidu sought the Centre's collaboration to facilitate the establishment of the steel plant by resolving all technical issues.
He presented a copy of the Swarnandhra Vision-2047 document and discussed the objectives set by the State Government as part of Vikasith Bharat. He requested the Centre's cooperation to achieve the goals outlined in Vision-2047 and elaborated on the proposed programs for the following month, including the laying of foundation stones and inaugurating projects.
Subsequently, the Chief Minister held separate discussions with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, where he elaborated on the poor financial conditions of the State and the measures he is implementing to stabilize the situation.
He also requested the release of funds from the Centre under various categories and sought special Central assistance in light of the state's financial distress.
State Finance Minister Payyavula Kesav, Union Ministers K. Ram Mohan Naidu, Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, and Srinivasa Varma, along with party MPs, were present at these discussions.
The Chief Minister also met with Union Minister for Steel Kumarasway and Railway Minister Ashwini Vishnav.
Additionally, the TDP leader participated in a meeting with NDA leaders at the residence of BJP national president J.P. Nadda.
Naidu began his day by paying respects to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Atal Samadhi, accompanying Prime Minister Modi, Amit Shah, and other leaders.
CM Naidu also took to X to honor Vajpayee on his 100th birth anniversary.
