As per a statement released by his office on Thursday, the minister will embark on a brief trip to Delhi tomorrow. His visit includes a courtesy meeting with Prime Minister Modi on the morning of September 5.
“To facilitate this meeting, Minister Lokesh will depart for Delhi tonight, September 4, and is anticipated to return to the state by tomorrow afternoon. Post-meeting, he will join the celebrations for Teachers' Day in Amaravati,” the statement elaborated.
It is noteworthy that Lokesh is the offspring of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who also leads the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).
Previously, Lokesh, accompanied by his wife Brahmani and son Devansh, had met with Prime Minister Modi on May 17, 2025.
During that meeting, PM Modi unveiled the inaugural copy of the coffee table book 'Yuvagalam', which documents Lokesh's significant 3,132 km padayatra leading up to the 2024 elections.
In other news, Lokesh has shown his support for the recent Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms that were greenlit by the GST Council.
“The historic reform by the NDA government, which simplifies the tax structure from 4 slabs to 2 and reduces rates on essential items, is a pivotal step toward establishing a more manageable, growth-focused tax framework,” Lokesh expressed in a post on X on Thursday. He also congratulated the Prime Minister for this “landmark reform.”
“As the Education Minister of Andhra Pradesh, I am particularly pleased with the GST reductions on items such as maps, charts, pencils, sharpeners, and exercise books. This will substantially alleviate the financial burden on families concerning education and promote a knowledge-based economy,” he stated.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu praised the reforms on Wednesday night, describing them as beneficial for the underprivileged and growth-oriented.
“We welcome the GST reforms, which include revised slabs for daily essentials, education, healthcare, and agriculture. This pro-poor and growth-focused decision will serve all segments of society, from farmers to businesses,” Chandrababu Naidu, a crucial ally in the BJP-led NDA government at the national level, posted.
