New Delhi, Sep 4 (NationPress) South Africa’s up-and-coming cricketer Dewald Brevis highlighted that, aside from MS Dhoni’s extraordinary cricketing skills, it was the former Indian captain’s humility and personality that made a lasting impact on him during his stint with the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2025.
Joining as a replacement for the injured Gurjapneet Singh, Brevis scored a total of 225 runs in six innings, which included two half-centuries, for CSK, who concluded the season in tenth place on the points table.
“The standout quality of MS for me is his humbleness and who he is as a person. Off the field, he always has time for players and people. His room door is perpetually open, and it’s only closed when he’s sleeping,” Brevis stated.
“I often found myself in his room, just sitting there, chatting about his interests, watching cricket together, which was truly remarkable. It’s special to observe how he conducts himself off the field, in contrast to his well-known on-field contributions,” Brevis shared on AB de Villiers’ YouTube channel.
Despite CSK's struggles in the IPL, Brevis appreciated the support from the coaching staff. “I had a great time there. Flem (head coach Stephen Fleming) and all the coaches, including Eric (Simons, bowling consultant), were incredibly welcoming, helping me to settle in quickly,” he noted.
“Though I didn’t play in the first match, I was aware of their plans for me, and I enjoyed bonding with my teammates, both the esteemed overseas players and the local talent,” he added.
