Amaravati, July 21 (NationPress) As land availability becomes increasingly challenging in cities such as Bengaluru and Chennai, the government of Andhra Pradesh is gearing up to establish electronics manufacturing hubs in the Rayalaseema area.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has identified locations like Sri City near Tirupati, Orvakal near Kurnool, Kopparthy, and Hindupur as prime sites for the setup of electronics manufacturing industries.
He pointed out the substantial potential for electronic component manufacturing in these regions of Rayalaseema and has asked officials to focus on attracting investments to this area, which is conveniently located near Bengaluru and Chennai.
During a review meeting concerning the newly drafted Electronics Components Manufacturing Policy 4.0 at the Secretariat, he mentioned that Andhra Pradesh holds a significant advantage in luring investments into the electronics manufacturing sector.
He recommended devising a comprehensive action plan aimed at drawing in investments ranging from $50-100 billion into the electronics components manufacturing industry.
The Chief Minister underscored the necessity for the new policy to support large-scale production and instructed officials to cultivate a supportive ecosystem to accompany the establishment of these industries.
Officials informed the CM that the policy aims to minimize electronics imports, enhance domestic production, and emphasize exports. They noted that India imported electronic circuit boards valued at $70 billion last year, spotlighting the sector's considerable demand.
Chandrababu Naidu asserted that fostering self-reliance in electronics and achieving the 'Make in India' objectives must be prioritized. He stated that Andhra Pradesh must initiate large-scale manufacturing projects to cater to international demand and develop its own brand for these products.
The CM also affirmed that the government would take measures to support aspiring entrepreneurs, reiterating the coalition government’s vision of ‘One Family, One Entrepreneur’.
He highlighted that cities like Visakhapatnam, Amaravati, and Tirupati present vast opportunities for establishing IT companies. He suggested allocating space for 500 IT companies in these areas to generate substantial employment.
In addition to IT and ITeS firms in Visakhapatnam, manufacturing industries could be developed from Lepakshi to Orvakal. The CM also directed the creation of co-working spaces in these regions.
The CM instructed officials to ensure an increase in job opportunities in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, and other cities across the state. He stressed the importance of integrating the skill development portal with other platforms to enhance youth skills in accordance with future requirements.
He also advocated for updating academic curricula to align with emerging educational needs, thereby creating opportunities at the state, national, and global levels.
