Malappuram, Jan 30 (NationPress) In an unexpected turn of events, Trinamool Congress Kerala Coordinator P.V. Anvar joined the UDF’s Malayora Samara Yatra on Thursday, led by the Leader of the Opposition (LOP) V.D. Satheesan. This rally aims to protest against the Union and state governments for their inability to address the rising man-animal conflict in the region.
“I am very joyful to reunite with my family. I assure everyone that I haven’t come empty-handed. I bring a promise too. Once the UDF regains power, we will ensure that man-animal conflicts become a thing of the past,” declared Anvar, who had expressed a strong desire to join the rally when it passed through his home district.
Upon taking the stage, Anvar received a thunderous ovation from the large crowd present. He was seen embracing and greeting members of the UDF amidst enthusiastic applause.
Kerala's LOP Satheesan is spearheading the Malayora Samara Yatra on behalf of the UDF, denouncing the “indifferent attitude” of both the Union and the Pinarayi Vijayan administration towards the escalating man-animal conflict in regions adjacent to forests throughout the state.
Anvar had previously been a staunch critic of Satheesan and the Congress party, labeling them as a corrupt political front. However, in recent months, he has shifted his criticism towards Vijayan, branding him as the most corrupt Chief Minister in Kerala's history.
Following his critiques of the Kerala Chief Minister, the Left took action to expel Anvar. He then made considerable efforts to join the Congress-led UDF and met with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, eventually being appointed the Kerala coordinator of the Trinamool Congress.
On January 13, Anvar stunned everyone by resigning as an MLA, and once his resignation was approved by the Speaker, he pledged his support to the Congress-led UDF.
He also confirmed that he would not seek election in the upcoming by-election for the Nilambur Assembly constituency in Malappuram district, a position he has held since 2016 until his recent resignation.
With Congress permitting Anvar to share the stage, it seems likely that his formal inclusion as an ally of the UDF is imminent.
