Chennai, July 21 (NationPress) The Tamil Nadu BJP has vehemently criticized the DMK following the decision of former AIADMK Minister and ex-MP Anwar Rajaa to join the ruling party.
BJP State Spokesperson A.N.S Prasad asserted that Rajaa's departure reveals the DMK's "casteist, separatist, and religion-driven political agenda".
In a strongly-worded statement, Prasad expressed, "I sincerely thank Anwar Rajaa for openly stating that casteist and separatist politics, coupled with religious self-interest, overshadow the welfare of the people of Tamil Nadu."
He criticized Rajaa for abandoning the AIADMK, a party that had fostered his political ascent by appointing him as an MLA, Minister, and MP.
"His choice to leave the party that elevated him for religious motives is a symbolic sacrifice—one that should awaken those still oblivious to political realities," Prasad remarked.
According to him, Rajaa's defection is a direct affront to the secular principles frequently referenced in Indian politics.
"We are told that India is a secular nation and that religion should remain separate from politics. Yet, these rules appear to apply solely to Hindus. Other communities openly prioritize their faith and are still celebrated as secular figures," he stated.
The BJP leader accused Rajaa of secretly undermining the NDA in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, during which senior party leader and current State BJP President Nainar Nagendran ran for office in Ramanathapuram.
"Despite serving as the AIADMK's Election In-charge, Rajaa covertly facilitated the victory of the DMK alliance candidate. I witnessed this betrayal firsthand while on election duty," he claimed.
Prasad emphasized that Rajaa's recent political maneuver confirms his association with a party that thrives on divisive politics.
"The DMK neglects the progress and welfare of Tamil Nadu. Their politics is rooted in vote-bank strategies predicated on casteism and religious appeasement," he added.
He also criticized Chief Minister M.K. Stalin for perceived religious bias.
"Stalin acknowledges every religious festival except those of the Hindu faith. His selective silence speaks volumes about his stance on Hinduism," Prasad alleged.
In closing, Prasad stated that Anwar Rajaa's decision sends a clear message to the Hindu community in Tamil Nadu.
"I hope this betrayal awakens the Hindus within the DMK and those who remain neutral. I once again thank Anwar Rajaa for so clearly exposing the DMK's true colors," he added.
