New Delhi, April 25 (NationPress) In a show of solidarity with India and its populace, Mariano Caucino, the Ambassador of Argentina to India, condemned the horrifying Pahalgam terror attack while offering full support to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's commitment to identifying and punishing the terrorists and their supporters.
In an exclusive interview with IANS, the Ambassador remarked that PM Modi is delivering the robust leadership and support that the Indian populace rightfully deserves.
"I believe he (PM Modi) issued a remarkably strong declaration on the same day and the following day, stating that India will pursue the terrorists to the ends of the earth. I think that is the correct approach," Ambassador Caucino noted.
Denouncing all forms of terrorism and violence, Caucino emphasized that Argentina is a nation that has endured the consequences of terrorism, making them sensitive to its ramifications.
He affirmed that India has every right to defend itself, adding that Argentina stands against terrorism and supports both the people and the government of India. He highlighted that as members of the G20, India and Argentina are collaborating to combat terrorism.
"India has the right to safeguard its territory, its citizens, and to reject terrorism. We endorse global efforts aimed at countering, preventing, and combating terrorism, and that’s precisely what we are undertaking. We understand the gravity of such tragedies. We categorically reject terrorism, and we are backing India in the strongest possible terms," he added.
The Argentinian Ambassador also engaged with External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar on Friday to express his country's unwavering support for New Delhi.
"I met with Ambassador Mariano Caucino of Argentina today. I appreciate Argentina’s strong condemnation of the Pahalgam terror attack. We discussed enhancing our bilateral and multilateral cooperation," EAM Jaishankar shared on X following the meeting.
The brutal assault, which claimed the lives of 26 innocent civilians and left numerous others injured, occurred on Tuesday in the Baisaran Valley near Pahalgam, when four heavily armed terrorists, two of whom were from Pakistan, emerged from the nearby dense forests and opened fire indiscriminately on tourists. This attack has been described as one of the most horrific in the region's recent history.
According to intelligence reports, the Pakistan-based terrorist group The Resistance Front (TRF), linked to the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba, is responsible for the assault.
The attack has prompted a series of strong diplomatic and strategic responses from India, including the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, expulsion of Pakistani military attaches, closure of the Attari-Wagah border, and cancellation of the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme for Pakistani nationals.
